PoW security is the only measurable stat that Ethereum actually beats Bitcoin at, and the ETH devs are trying (and failing) to get rid of it. If they wanted to actually stand a chance of beating Bitcoin, they should fork ETH's PoW algorithm to SHA-256, which would threaten Bitcoin's security since it would only sustain 33% of the total hashrate (making it vulnerable to attack by only 17% of total hashing power).
